Group Crisis Intervention (Vestavia Hills)

Sponsored by AFFC, this chaplaincy training is a two-day event highly recommended for fire chaplains that provides techniques for one-on-one crisis intervention for those in the fields of Disaster Response, Emergency Services, Security, Military, Mental Health, Healthcare, Education, Spiritual Care, etc. This course will cover incident assessment, strategic intervention planning, the “Resistance, resilience, recovery” continuum, group crisis interventions (small and large), adverse outcomes associated with crisis intervention, critical incident stress debriefing, reducing risks, and more.

This event is on January 8-9, 2027, at the Vestavia Hills City Hall City Council Chambers in Vestavia Hills from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, with a fellowship and sign-in starting at 8:30. ALL current Active AFFC Members are $250. Non/In-Active AFFC members are $275.  The price includes the training classes, all course materials, and complimentary snacks and drinks.

Introduction to Fire Chaplaincy (Newton)

Sponsored by AFFC, this Fire Chaplaincy training event is a 7-hour introduction to fire chaplaincy and the skills needed. This is highly recommended for chaplains, fire personnel, ministers, laypersons, and those who serve in high-stress fields and ministry. This introductory course covers a brief ICS overview and introduction to critical incident stress management; why a fire chaplain is needed and their role in a crisis and LODD; the power of listening; how to make a proper death notification; and designing your fire chaplaincy program.

This event is January 23rd at Newton Volunteer Fire Department from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with a fellowship and sign-in starting at 8:45. Active AFFC Members are $25, and Non/In-Active AFFC members are $50.

The price includes the training class, course materials, and complimentary snacks and drinks.

This event is on February 5-6, 2027, at the Alabama Fire College in Tuscaloosa from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. daily, with a fellowship and sign-in starting at 8:30.
